The history of Earth can be divided into Palaeozoic Era and Mesozoic Era, with a sub division of the Triassic, the Zurassic, the Cretaceous and the Cainozoic Era. Palaeozoic Era had a wide range of living things. Mesozoic Era was the k time when dinosaurs lived. The Cainozoic Era was the time when the human race began.

The star nearest to us other than the Sun is Proxima Centurai which is 4.3 light years from the earth. Even the fastest space probe would take 18000 years to reach it.

The ISS, at a cost of over US $ 100 billion, is the most expensive object ever built. The ISS is being put together in sections. When completed it will be as big as a football ground and four times bigger than the Russian space station MIR.

A team of European and American astronomers reported a huge new planet named 2M 1207 located about 150 light years from the Earth. It is five times the mass of Jupiter, and the first planet outside our solar system.

250 million years ago, Earth was one giant continent called Pangaea. 135 million years ago, Pangaea split into two main continents, called Laurasia and Gondwana Land. As a million years passed, the continents we know today began to form.

The biggest crater on the Moon, visible from the Earth is Bailly, which is 295 km across and 4250 m deep.

The Deneb star burns as bright as 60000 suns do. But, it looks dimmer than Sirius, because it is 1,800 light years away from the Earth.
