Cumulonimbus are the largest clouds and can tower 18 km in the sky and may contain up to one million tonnes of water, which causes storms. 

Sun burns up to 4 million tonnes of hydrogen fuel every second. The solar energy it produces each second could keep the USA supplied with electricity for 50 million years.

Laika, a fox-terrier dog, was the first animal to travel in space. In 1957, she spent a week on board the Russian craft Sputnik II. The Russians knew that they would not be able to bring Laika back and she died when her oxygen exhausted.

Asteroids are huge lumps of rock that orbit between Mars and Jupiter. The biggest is Ceres, 1,000 km in diameter. Astronomers reckon there may be millions of asteroids in space.

Triton, the biggest Moon of Neptune, shoots out frozen Nitrogen gas from its geysers, and also this is the coldest in the universe with an average temperature of -495°C by day.

Sun shines because it is burning the hydrogen contained in its nucleus, and transforms into gas helium. Light and colour results from this reaction inside the nucleus, where the temperature is calculated to be 15 million °C.
