The Universe

Miranda, one of the moons of Uranus, has a very irregular surface with plains, Canyons and Craters on it.

A spacecraft at a speed of a jet airliner, about 9, 00 KMPH, would take nearly 20 years to get to the Sun. If a spacecraft is travelling at 40,000 KMPH, (the speed needed to escape the pull of Earth's gravity) it would take 5 months to reach the Sun.

Neptune is four times larger than the Earth, and 30 times farther than the Earth from the Sun. It is believed to be a sea of liquid methane, surrounding a core of rock.

Every year, more than 50,000 earthquakes take place on Earth. Of these, most are too mild and negligible.

Till date, about 400 people have travelled in space. Of which, more than 85% were Americans and Russians, the rest of 15% were others.

Earth is the only planet where there is water and life in existence. It moves around the Sun at a speed of 29.8 km/sec. or 107,280 KMPH.

Pluto is the smallest and the coolest Planet, with an average temperature of-280°C. Its Moon, Charon, is half as large as the planet itself, and it is the most distant satellite in the entire solar system.

The ISS will go into orbit around the Earth at a height of 400 to 500 km, and it will remain in orbit for about 10 years. In ISS, astronauts will do shifts for 3 to 6 months.

Most space explorations had been done by the ex-Soviet Union, with more than 110 space missions, followed by the USA with more than 85 missions.

Jupiter is so big that 1000 Earths would fit inside it, while the Sun can accommodate 900 Jupiter inside it. There are stars which are 2000 times bigger than the Sun.
