There are so many things which remain same in size after so many years. They do not grow because they are non-living.
Non – living things: Non – living things do not have life. They can’t move from one place to another on their own. They cannot eat and grow.
For example: television, sofa, teddy, bear, Aeroplane, fan, car, etc.

Keep your teddy vear and a plan in the flower pot in your drawing room. After a weeks’ time what will you notice? The teddy bear will remain same in size whereas the plant will grow in size. Do you know the reason behind this? 
PARTS OF PLANT
Plants consists of different parts. Each of the part pays a very important role:
The different parts of a plant are: Root, Stem, Leaves, Flower, Fruit
Misconcept/Concept:
Misconcept: Tomato is a vegetable
Concept: Tomato is NOT a vegetable, it is a fruit as it contains seeds. It can be consumed in different ways as raw, in salad, sauces, juices etc.
Misconcept: Cauliflower is a vegetable
Concept: Cauliflower actually an immature flower a head. This flower is used as vegetable.

TYPES OF PLANT
You might have noticed that some plants are very big & some are small and some are very small.
On the basis of size, plants can be of 3 different types:
Herbs, Shrubs and trees.
Herbs: herbs are very small plants with soft stem. For example: Tulsi, coriander, grass, etc.
Shrubs: shrubs are the small woody plant with short, bushy stem.
For example: hibiscus (china rose), rose
Trees: Big and tall plants are called trees. Trees have strong & long branches.
For example: Mango, Neem, Banyan
Note: Beside these, two other types of plants are climbers and creepers.
Some domestic animals are used in transportation. For example: Horse, Monkey, Ox. Camel.
Camel can live in desert because it has a hump which can store water for many days.

PARTS OF OUR BODY
a) BRAIN:
Brain is present in the head of the body.
- Brain controls all the activities of our body.
- Brain gives instruction to all other parts of our body.
- All the thinking & memorizing work is done by the brain.

Heart is present in the chest.
- It is an internal organ of our body.
- Normally heart beat of a healthy person is
72-75 times in one minute.

Lungs are present in the chest. Human body has two lungs. Lungs help in breathing & purifies the blood,
d) ARM:
Every human being has 2 arms. Each arm consists of elbow, wrist, hand and fingers. Hands are used for eating, writing, combing, cleaning etc.
e) LEG:
- Legs are the lower part of our body. Human beings have 2 legs. Legs are used for walking, running etc. Legs contain thighs, knees, ankles, fingers and toes.

These are also good habits.
We should always wish our elders and teachers. For example: we should say ‘good morning, to our teachers.
Say Thank you' when we get something and please' when we want something.
We should always say 'Sorry if we hurt someone.
SAFETY
'Safety' means^ to keep yourself protected from harm or accident.
Your parents always tell you to be careful while walking on the road, not to run on the road, cross the road very carefully. All these are safety rules.

2. Pukka House: Houses made up of brick, cement etc are called pucca or pukka house. These are also known as permanent house. For example: Flats, bungalows", Apartments. In pukka house, for example in flats and bungalows there are many facilities. There are many rooms for different purposes and activities. Let us study this in detail:
1. Kitchen: My mother cooks tasty food for me and my sister in the kitchen
2. Drawing Room: We welcome our guests in the drawing room.
3. Bedroom: We take rest and sleep in the bedroom.
4. Bathroom: We take bath and wash our clothes in the bathroom
FAMILY
I live with my mother and father in my sweet home but my best friend Shiva lives with his mother, father, elder sister, grandmother and grandfather. We all live together with love. We are all family. Let us study more about family in detail. We all live in a house with our father, mother, brother and sister together as a family. Father and mother together are called parents. Family may be big and small,
Small family: In a small family, there are parents and two or three children. This is also known as nuclear family.
Big family: In a big family, there are parents, brother, sister, grandfather, grandmother all living together.
WATER CONSERVATION:
Water is very essential for our life. Life not possible without water. Water can stored in dams, wells, ponds, rivers, lakes etc. We should not waste water. Water can be reused for various purposes such as cleaning, washing, irrigation etc. This is called water conservation.
a) SUMMER: In summers, days are very hot. We wear cotton clothes in summer.

2. Addition using number line
We have learnt about number line in previous chapter. Lets discuss how number line helps in adding two numbers.
For example.
Minki the cat, wants to add 4 and 2. Minki starts from 4 and reaches 2 steps ahead by jumping one step at a time
Minki reaches at number 6, i.e. 4 + 2 = 6.
3. Addition of zero and one to a number
On adding zero to a number, we get the number itself.
7 + 0 = 7
On adding 1 to a number, we get the number that comes just after it.
7 + 1 = 8
4. Addition by forward counting:
To add 2 to 7, count 2 numbers after 7.
To add 7 to 12, count 7 numbers after 12.
