Today at least for India corruption is the password, an oft-heard subject of discussions and conversations on all kinds of forums and platforms. The simple layman's definition of corruption is lo gel a job done in a wrong and unethical way.  The first thing that we should analyze is that why do we do any work in a wrong way? The answer to this is quite simple and obvious. We do a job in a wrong way because firstly the right way to do it is very, elaborate and time consuming and even then, the chance is that the job may still not be done. Besides getting it done in the right way is not possible as, people are so used to wrong doing that, the person trying out the way to do it correctly will appear foolish. Moreover, doing a task in the right way has no advantages attached more...

The elephant is the largest animal living today and the strongest too. It has thick legs, huge sides and back, large hanging ears, small tail, little eyes, long white tusks and above all long nose called the trunk. The trunk is the elephant's peculiar feature, and it puts it to various uses. It draws up water by it and can squirt it all over its body like a shower bath; picks leaves from the trees and puts them into mouth. Elephants look very clumsy and heavy. Elephants are found in India and Africa. The African elephant differs in some respects from the Indian; it is larger, stronger, with longer tusks and bigger ears. It was the month of May. It was very hot day. I heard a loud noise. I got up and ran outside I saw that a house of my neighbour was on fire. The flames were rising to the sky. Everyone feared that the fire would spread the whole locality. Many people were running with buckets full of water and bags full of sand. They were throwing water on the fire. Many men, women and children had gathered. Soon two fire-engineers reached the spot. The firemen began to throw a lot of water with their pipes. They entered the burning house. They helped the family to come out. Fortunately no one was killed. It took the fire brigade about half an hour to control the fire. Luckily, there was no loss of life. Whenever I am reminded of the scene, my heart begins to sink.

In 1947 when India became free, he was elected the first Prime Minister. He has written many books. He died on 27th May, 1964. He was a man of principles and great moral courage.

Trees are extremely important for us. They give us shade, fruit, gum and medicines. Leaves of some trees are used as fodder for animals. The most important thing that the trees give us is oxygen. In the light of the sun, they absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and release oxygen which is essential for the life of all living beings. Thus, they keep the atmosphere clear. This process is known as photosynthesis. Trees cause coolness in the air. This helps in causing rain. Thus, the regions such as the Sahara and Rajasthan where trees are sparse have only scanty rainfall. Trees also help in checking soil erosion, mostly; there is a thick undergrowth below and around the trees. This happens most often in forest areas. Because of this undergrowth, soil does not get eroded quickly. This undergrowth also helps in controlling floods. The rushing water of rivers and rivulets, more...

Poverty in India is reducing but it is still a major issue. Rural Indians depend on unpredictable agriculture incomes, while urban Indians rely on jobs that are, at best, scarce. Since its independence, the issue of poverty within India has remained a prevalent concern. According to the common definition of poverty, when a person finds it difficult to meet the minimum requirement of acceptable living standards, he or she is considered poor. Millions of people in India are unable to meet these basic standards, and according to government estimates, in 2007 there were nearly 220.1 million people living below the poverty line. Nearly 21.1% of the entire rural population and 15% of the urban population of India exists in this difficult physical and financial predicament. The division of resources, as well as wealth, is very uneven in India - this disparity creates different poverty ratios for different states For instance, more...

Lord of the Indian Jungles, is the National Animal of India. The tiger is the symbol of India's wealth of wildlife. The magnificent tiger, Pantheratigris (Linnaeus), is a striped animal.
