Skunk is an American animal, coloured black and white, which sprays out a foul-smelling liquid to defend itself. 

The largest herbaceous plants (plants without woody-trunks and which die off in winter) in the world is the giant ambrosia, which can reach a height of 3.65 m, with leaves 90 cm long. It grows throughout America.

Deer shed their antlers (branched horns) and grow new ones every year.  

The stinging leaves of the Ulmaceae Wettle from New Zealand contain deadly poisons. Just a touch can cause the death of many animals, including dogs and horses.

Boxwood is so heavy that it does not float on water, but sinks.

There are about 600 marine organisms which produce light from their bodies. Angler and lantern fish are two such fish.

A pair of nesting barn owls is capable of catching and eating nearly 3,000 rats in a year.

Blue whale, the largest animal on Earth, weighs nearly 3 tonnes, and is 6 to 8 m long at its birth. It can grow as long as 33.5 m and weigh as much as 190 tonnes.

Kangaroo rat, a marsupial (animal with a pouch) is the best long jumper which can clear 6 to 7 m in one leap over an area 10 times its own length.
