As a student in school I had opted for science. My subject was biology, physics and chemistry. I took up these subjects .with an aim in life. My aim was to become nurse and take care of patients who have no One to attend to them.

After passing my higher secondary examinations Ijoined the nursing course and became a nurse. As anurse I have to work very hard. Although I knew that I would have to work almost twenty hours a day I chosethis profession so that I could be a really good and usefulcitizen of this country.

Love of humanity is the goal of every nurse. To servethe suffering humanity is the work of saints and greatmen if I could follow their footsteps and try to servepeople like they do, I shall consider myself to be verylucky.

I get up early in the morning and have my bath. Afterhaving my breakfast I go to different beds and keep aschedule of the patients under my charge.

I go from bed to bed and check the temperature of thepatients and give them their medicines personally. Irecord their progress and the doctor in charge thenvisits the ward and checks things for himself.

I have about fifty patients under my charge. They lie inbed. I take personal care of all of them. They suffer frompain and I often give them medicines to relieve thepain. This is a great source of satisfaction for me as I earn my living while doing all that I can to make othersmore comfortable in the hospital.

I wait in my room all day. There may be a call for me atany time of the day. I hardly get any rest and I have tobe alert and active all the time because I am in changeof people's lives.

A little mistake on my part can damage a patient'shealth permanently. I give injections and do the dressings of wounds. I check the blood pressure and in short I am a super assistant for the doctor.

I try not to grumble when I am put to a left ofInconvenience. In my profession I have to smile and

make my patients comfortable and happy too.
