A salesman can broadly have two kinds of Carees— that of a stationary salesman and that of a travelling salesman.

A typical stationary or sedentary salesman works. In a shop He sells goods such as cloth, stationery, books, grocery items, general merchant’s items, etc.

Sometimes, a salesman may have multiple duties such as from merely selling goods to attending customers and answering enquiries over the Telephone or otherwise. In the latter case, his Duty also practically includes the work of receptionist or an enquiry officer.         

A travelling salesman has to move from one station to other station selling goods Manufactured by his company.

In all cases, the salesman must be well-versed with the kind, quality, and working of the item he is out to sell. Fluent in speech, particularly in the language that is spoken in the particular region in which he is trying to sell He must be.

Now-a-days, there are salesmen and salesgirls who are selling goods from door to door. They Paint a very rosy picture of the items to be sold and compare and contrast them to the popular Varieties available and try to convince the would-be customers of the superiority of their items or their being equal in utility and effect to popular brands at lesser rates.

They even give practical demonstrations when they have to sell items like gadgets such as water purifier, etc or detergents, etc.

In all cases, a salesman should have a great convincing power. We should be careful while making purchases of unbranded items. Sometimes item sold by a travelling salesman as branded ones may be fake.
