A VISIT TO A HOSPITAL

Category : Essays

A Visit to Hospital' gives a feeling of shock. The word 'Hospital' creates an atmosphere of pain and sorrow with terrible feeling in the mind. Admission in the hospital means something very serious to physical body of the person. I cannot see the suffering persons. It makes me very sad and nervous so I hesitate to go to a hospital. Only my ill-luck forced me to
this  visit.
One evening I was in kitchen garden. I was busy in my hobby. Suddenly I heard about the accident of my friend, Rajan. I came to know that he had admitted to Holi Family Hospital. I atonce rushed there to see my friend with my mother. My mother knew my friend very well. She also wished to go with me.
When I reached the hospital, I went to the emergency ward. I could find him there. I went there. He was being taken to the operation room. His younger brother and mother were sitting there. They told me that he had an accident with a
Scooter He had got fracture in the elbow of his left arm and had received other injuries also.
After sometime, Mohan was brought out of the operation room. We waited there. He had bandages several places. His face was dressed. The doctors had to operate his elbow and set it right. He could hardly talk. He was taken to the General Ward. There were many patients in that ward. There were rows of beds. Not a single bed was without patient. Some patients were lying calm and quite while some -were moaning with pain. Some patients were sitting in their bed. There were many attendants of the patients also. The nurses were on duty. Some were taking to the temperature of the patients and some were giving the medicines. They were dutiful and sweet natured. Soon it became time for the doctors to be on round in the ward for examining the patients.
There were separate wards for different diseases. The cancer ward filled me with an unknown fear. I started thinking about the cancer patients and their family members. There was emergency ward too for 24 hours service. All of a sudden I heard the loud cry, coming from the emergency ward. Someone had died, I thought and the very reality made me too nervous to remain there anymore.
I found the atmosphere in the hospital suffocating and Cheerless. Everyone was in deep distress. My friend too was hooking very serious. I tried to cheer him up. I also prayed to God for his soon recovery. Now it was time to take leave from him. I came out of the hospital and took a sigh of relief. Actually I was feeling a mixture of joy and sorrow. I was
Satisfied to see that my friend was under proper treatment and proper care. There was cleanliness of high order everywhere need in the hospital. Needless to say that cleanliness is the great need for the patients. But I had a feeling of sorrow too for those who were in hospital beds. I have great sympathy for them. May God relieve them of their pain and suffering!
