The Language of Power

The term 'power' means the probability that a person within a social relationship will be in a position to carry out his own will, despite resistance. Whereas, a poor person is expressed in the form of certain acts ranging from persuasion to physical force to exploitation and is always backed by sanctions which may be of mild or harsh nature depending on the gravity of situation. One distinctive

characteristic of power allocation is that it is not possible to enjoy it by all the members of the society, rather a few members of the society are enjoying it. It is because of the simple reason that power involves a reciprocal relationship between two groups of individuals i.e. those who enjoy it and on the other hand to whom it is exercised.

Man is by nature power gaudy. In fact, the history of human civilization is, in other words, the history of power struggle. It was manifested in the form of wars, particles, seams, scandals, etc. Politics is one of the distrust games ever created by mankind. It has no eye to distinguish between a friend and a foe. It trades hatred, rather than love, it

encourages egoism rather than pacifism and it encourages separations rather than unity.

All the divisive forces operating in our society, in outside world and particularly in India, in one way or the other, is

the force of power struggle. The continous law and order problem in Jammu and Kashmir and in some North- Eastern states of India are, in fact, the handmade of Source  power-gaudy poisonous. Under the cloak of beautiful idols such as liberalism, equalitarianism and cultural idealism, these shrewd politicians are playing with the lives of thousands of the innocent people but people hardly understand that they are fighting not for the bulk of masses but for their own personal gains, that is, acquisition of power and money.

The game of power struggle primates at all levels starting from simple household mature to highly complex International politics. The power game of United States to create American leadership in various parts of the world and its counterproductive forces of International terrorism is also one of the classical examples to justify the statement that the language of power knows no love and affection but brute force. Today we are living in an age of continual mental unrest and disbelief, as these looming destructive forces are direct products of power antagonism and are surrounding us.

In fact, a lose observation of the dynamics of society drags us to the conclusion that the Machiavellian principle power reigns everywhere holds true without having even a single point of objection. The one in power occupies a superior and more glamorous position over those persons who wait to take it to the hands. Power is an instrument to subjugate another human being.

The world would have been a better place had there no been power struggle. But the Sad was that we couldn't escape from this negative social phenomenon because it has been deep-seated in the minds of the human beings. It is, in other word, a part of human nature making endeavour to be in superior position than others. The result is simply- using every means to hold power. The language of powerknows no love and affection.
