 Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das announced that the first 'Khadi Mall' of the country will be opened in Jharkhand. The land in the Heavy Engineering Corporation (HEC) campus will be made available to the Khadi Board to develop the country's first Khadi mall. The artisans would be provided technological aid for value addition in their products, while rural, urban and tourism 'haats' will provide them markets for their goods.

 The Odisha government decided to raise the health cover from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 7 lakh under Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) for women. This was announced by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik while interacting with the people of four districts during a video conferencing on Ama Gaon Ama Bikash Yojana.  On the occasion, the chief minister also sanctioned Rs 31.54 crore for 154 panchayats in seven blocks of six districts under Ama Gaon Ama Bikash Yojana at the block level.

 The Gujarat government announced wind-solar hybrid power policy - 2018, aiming to make optimum utilisation of the land and grid. The policy, which will have a coverage period of five years, provides encouragement to renewable power producers supplying to the grid as well as to those having captive use. The electricity generated from wind-solar hybrid projects will be exempted from energy charges. The policy provides 50% concession for cross-subsidy surcharge and additional surcharge when the generated energy is sold to a third party. Gujarat currently generates over 5,500 MW of wind power and 1,600 MW of solar power.

 The Telangana police have launched a mobile-based messenger application named 'Cop Connect' dedicated to provide real-time information to over 60,000 police officers across the State. The mobile-based application launched by the Director General of Police M. Mahender Reddy will also support the police department in improving quality of service delivered to the public.

 The Punjab Government has launched a mobile application named ‘i-Hariyali’ aimed at increasing the state's green cover. The mobile application would enable the users to order free plant saplings. The 'i-Hariyali' app, under ‘Mission Tandarust Punjab’ can be downloaded from the app store for free. The users can book a sapling of their choice, a maximum of 25 per person, from a nearby government nursery.

 Harayana Government has launched 7-Star Gram Panchayat Rainbow scheme to give star rankings to its panchayats on the basis of seven social parameters. Under this scheme, as many as 1,120 villages of the state have achieved rankings since its launch in January 2018. Ambala has topped star ranking followed by Gurugram and Karnal.
  • Key Facts
Under this scheme, seven social parameters under which panchayats will be judged are sex ratio, education, hygiene, environment preservation, governance and social participation. Stars of different colours (mentioned below) are awarded to panchayats depending upon their performance in each parameter. Gram panchayats scoring maximum in all parameters will be recognized as Indradhanush Gram Panchayats. They will get special grants for development works from Development and Panchayats Department of the State Government depending upon their performance. Villages winning six stars will be entitled to get additional developmental works worth Rs 20 lakh. Villages with 5 stars rating will get additional developmental works worth Rs. 15 lakh. Villages with 4 stars will get additional developmental works worth Rs 10 lakh.
Various Colour Stars
  • Pink star: It will be awarded to those panchayats that make outstanding performance in improving sex ratio.
  • Green star: It is for protection of environment, white star for cleanliness,
  • Saffron star: It is for crime-free villages.
  • Sky colour star: It will be awarded to village that will have no drop out.
  • Golden star: It is for good governance.
  • Silver star: It will be awarded for participation in development of villages.
  • Rewards
Villages for achieving each parameter will be rewarded Rs 1 lakh. Villages having equal or more girl population will be given Rs 50,000 as bonus with their reward money. Similarly, villages which adopt Swachhta Mission will be given additional Rs 50,000 as reward.

 Maharashtra government has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Quebec province of Canada to increase economic cooperation and welfare of tribal community in the state. The MoU was signed between Chief Minister Devendra Fadanvis and Philippe Couillard, Prime Minister of Quebec province of Canada. Under the MoU, the key areas of focus are information technology (IT), biotechnology, artificial intelligence and welfare of the tribal community.

CM Devendra Fadnavis was on week-long tour to Dubai, Canada and United States to bring business to Maharashtra. During his visit to Canada, he also met Michael Sabia, President and CEO of CDPQ which is Institutional Fund Manager that manages funds over $298 billion. The intention was to attract more investment in Pension Fund from Canada. During this meeting, CDPQ agreed to partner with some of companies in India and also shown interest in working with retail partners.

 Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a one-day visit to Chhattisgarh where he dedicated the modernised and expanded Bhilai steel plant to the nation. He also took part in programmes in Naya Raipur - the upcoming capital city of the state. The PM inaugurated Integrated Command and Control Centre at Naya Raipur. Thereafter, in Bhilai, he inaugurated Raipur-Jagdalpur air service, laid the foundation stone for the new building of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bhilai. He also inaugurate air connectivity between Raipur and Jagdalpur under the Centre's 'Udaan' scheme.

 Neyveli Lignite Corporation India Limited (NLCIL)’s three 100 MW Solar Power Projects for commercial operation were inaugurated recently. These projects situated at Thoppalaakkarai and Sethupuram in Virudhunagar District and Sellaiya Sezhiyanallur in Tirunelveli District of Tamil Nadu.
  • Key Facts
The three solar plants have installed capacity of 100 MW each. They were erected at cost of Rs.1300 crores, which includes Operation & Maintenance (O&M) cost for 15 Years. The power produced from these units will be sold to Tamil Nadu Power Generation and Distribution Company (TANGEDCO) at cost of Rs.4.41/- per unit.
  • Neyveli Lignite Corporation India Limited (NLCIL)
NLCIL is navratna profit making of Central Government. It is engaged in mining of lignite and generation of power through lignite based thermal power plants. It was established in 1956, following discovery of lignite deposits in Neyveli, Tamil Nadu. It is headquartered in Neyveli, Tamil Nadu. NLCIL comes under administrative control of Ministry of Coal and serves as important source of power generation to southern states of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, Rajasthan and Puducherry (UT). Currently, it operates four open cast lignite mines of total capacity of 30.6 Million Tonnes per Annum (MTPA) and 5 thermal power stations with total installed capacity of 3240 MW.

 The Integrated Command and Control Centre of the Naya Raipur Smart City was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Integrated Command & Control Centre of Naya Raipurbecomes the 10th Smart City Centre to be operational in the country. Under the ambitious Smart City Mission, ICCC in 9 cities had already become operational viz. Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Pune, Nagpur, Rajkot, Visakhapatnam, Bhopal and Kakinada. Naya Raipur is one of the 3 Smart Cities of Chhattisgarh selected under the Smart Cities Mission. The other two cities are Raipur and Bilaspur.
