 Prime Minister Narendra Modi left on a five-day visit to Sweden and the UK. The visit to the two nations aims at enhancing bilateral cooperation in key areas like trade, investments and Science & technology. On the first leg of his visit, the Prime Minister will attend the first-ever India-Nordic Summit at Stockholm, which will be co-hosted by India and Sweden. In London, Mr Modi will take part in the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting being hosted by the UK.

 President Ram Nath Kovind has returned to New Delhi after three African nations tour of Equatorial Guinea, Swaziland and Zambia. Mr Kovind and his Zambian counterpart Edgar Chagwa Lungu laid the foundation stone of Lusaka traffic Decongestion Project. The cost of the 93-km road is 289 million dollar India is providing 250 million dollars. The project will be completed in three years. This project is aimed at redesigning the major road network for Lusaka city with a view to reducing traffic jam, travel distance and saving fuel.

 Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has decided to scrap the quota system in government servicesafter thousands of students marched across the country in protest against a controversial policy of setting aside jobs for special groups. The students began the protests against discriminatory quotas for government jobs, leaving scores of people injured at the Dhaka University.

 Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari is on a four-day official visit to South Korea. During the visit, Mr Gadkari will focus on taking forward the bilateral cooperation between India and South Korea in areas, such as shipping, ports, inland waterways, and river interlinking. Mr Gadkari’s visit is aimed at strengthening ties between the two nations and further cementing cooperation in areas, including sharing of technology, experience in port development and joint participation in port-related construction.

  The Turkish Atomic Energy Authority (TAEK) was awarded a construction licence for Akkuyu NPP, Turkey's first nuclear power plant, which is being built in Mersin province, in southern Turkey. JSC Akkuyu Nuklear is the Russian-owned company which is responsible for the project. The USD20 billion project to build the four-unit, 4800 MWe plant is part of Erdogan's '2023 Vision' marking 100 years since the founding of modern Turkey and is intended to reduce the country's dependence on energy imports. The plant is expected to meet about 10% of Turkey's electricity needs.

 External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has begun her three-day visit to Azerbaijan to participate in the Mid-Term Ministerial Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM). Ms Swaraj held bilateral consultations with the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, Elmar Mammadyarov. Ms Swaraj will attend the Mid-Term Ministerial Meeting of NAM in Baku. The two sides will discuss bilateral, regional and global issues of mutual interest.

 Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is in Russia to attend the 7th Moscow Conference on International Security. This is her first visit to Russia in her capacity as the Defence Minister. During her three-day tour, she will meet her Russian counterpart Army General Sergei Shoigu and other senior leaders.

 The United States and South Korea began their joint military training exercise named 'Foal Eagle. More than 11,500 U.S. troops and nearly 300,000 South Korean forces will take part in the four-week exercises. Foal Eagle, the largest annual joint military exercise in South Korea, usually runs about two months. Its start was delayed this year at the request of South Korea until after the Winter Olympics.
