 Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) has affirmed a USD 750 million (around Rs 5,714 crore) loan to India to enable the legislature to fortify its fight against the antagonistic effect of COVID-19 on poor and vulnerable households. AIIB’s total sovereign advances to India that have just been affirmed add up to USD 3.06 billion, including an ongoing USD 500 million COVID-19 emergency response. The current credit will be the second for India under AIIB’s COVID-19 Crisis Recovery Facility (CRF). While AIIB doesn’t have a day by day instrument for strategy based financing, the Bank is extending such financing on an uncommon premise under the CRF to help its individuals through ventures cofinanced with the WorldBank or the Asian Development Bank.

 India will send its Tri-Service contingent to take part in the 75th Victory Day Parade of World War II in Moscow, Russia. India will send its 75-member Tri-Service contingent as the Defence Minister of Russia has invited an Indian contingent to take part in the Victory Day Parade. Contingents of other countries are also expected to participate in the 75th Victory Day Parade of World War II in Moscow. Russia is conducting a military parade on 24th June 2020 in Moscow on the 75th anniversary of the victory in the Second World War. There will be a military parade to honour the heroism and sacrifices made by the Russian as well as other friendly people.

 Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) has collaborated with Karur Vysya Bank to offer simpler and flexible financing plans for new clients. Through the association with the bank, the company is trying to offer imminent purchasers exceptional plan of up to 100 per cent on-road funding with six months holiday period on all models, except van EECO, loans for both salaried and self-employed customers and repayment period up to 84 months. Karur Vysya Bank offers customers in-principle loan sanction in 15 minutes and existing customer of the bank can get their credits dispensed around the same time with the whole procedure from application to payment of the advance being digitalised with no manual intercession.

 “Composite Regional Centre (CRC) for Skill Development, Rehabilitation and Employment of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs)” has been inaugurated in Ranchi, Jharkhand. The centre was inaugurated by Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, Thaawarchand Gehlot, and Union Minister for Tribal Affairs, Arjun Munda. This is the 21st Composite Regional Centre (CRC) which will serve to fulfil the needs of Persons with Disabilities in Jharkhand. Composite Regional Centre (CRC) for Skill Development, Rehabilitation and Employment of Persons with Disabilities will offer rehabilitation services such as Early Intervention Programme to Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) in the State of Jharkhand including the adjoining areas. It will also execute various schemes of Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment along with Rehabilitation and Skill Development programmes for PwDs.

  The Asian Paralympic Committee (APC) has announced that the 4th edition of Asian Youth Para Games to be held in Bahrain in December 2021. Around 800 athletes under 20 years aged are expected to compete in nine sports: athletics, badminton, boccia, goalball, para taekwondo, powerlifting, swimming, table tennis and wheelchair basketball. The event is being organised in conjunction with the National Paralympic Committee (NPC) of Bahrain with the support of the government.

 Sustainable Gastronomy Day is observed globally on 18th June every year. This day is observed to acknowledge gastronomy as a cultural expression related to nature as well as the cultural diversity of the world. It also reaffirms that each one culture and civilizations are contributors and crucial enablers of sustainable development throughout the planet.

The UN General Assembly adopted on 21 December 2016 its resolution A/RES/71/246 and designated 18 June as an international observance, Sustainable Gastronomy Day.
  • What is Sustainable Gastronomy?
Gastronomy is sometimes called the art of food. It also can ask a method of cooking from a specific region. In other words, gastronomy often refers to local food and cuisine. Sustainability is the idea that something (e.g. agriculture, fishing or maybe preparation of food) is completed during a way that’s not wasteful of our natural resources and maybe continued into the longer term without being detrimental to our environment or health.

 Raja Parba festival celebrated in Odisha. It is a 3-days unique festival in which the onset of monsoon and the earth’s womanhood is celebrated by the state. It is believed that during this time the Mother Earth or Bhudevi undergoes menstruation. The fourth day is the day of the ‘purification bath’. While celebrating Raja Parba festival, people of Odisha suspends all agricultural works such as ploughing, sowing for three days as a mark of respect towards the earth during her menstruation days. These three days are namely: Raja Sankranti, the first day of the Ashara month is celebrated on the day prior to the Sankranti, i.e. Pahili Raja, the day of Sankranti, and the day after, known as Bhu Daha or ‘Basi Raja.

 Grandmaster Shakhriyar Mamedyarov of Azerbaijan has won the World Stars Sharjah Online International Chess Championship. He won the coveted title and price of $3000 after scoring 7.5 points from 10 rounds. Indian Grandmaster Pentala Harikrishna finished second in the Championship after scoring 6.5 points from 10 rounds. Sharjah Online International Chess Championship was hosted by the Sharjah Cultural & Chess Club. The Championship was held under the patronage of Sheikh Saqr Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairman of Sharjah Sports Council.

 The Trustees of the Prime Minister’s Citizens Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations (PM CARES) fund has appointed, New Delhi based Chartered Accountants, SARC & Associates, as its auditors for the next three years. The SARC & Associates headed by Sunil Kumar Gupta is also the auditor of the PM’s National Relief Fund(PMNRF) appointed in 2019. The Prime Minister, as chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the fund, has the power to nominate three trustees to the board. They shall be eminent persons in the field of research, health, science, social work, law, public administration or philanthropy. The fund is administered on an honorary basis by the joint secretary of administration in the Prime Minister’s Office(PMO) and assisted by an officer in a director or deputy secretary rank in the PMO.

 The Board of Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI) has reconstituted the Advisory Committee on Corporate Insolvency Resolution & Liquidation. The Advisory Committee will be chaired by the Executive Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Uday Kotak. Methil Unnikrishnan has been designated as the secretary to the Advisory Committee. The Advisory Committee on Corporate Insolvency Resolution & Liquidation comprises of 14 members including the Chairman. The committee will advise and provide professional support on a request from the Board of insolvency regulator, IBBI, or on its own volition on any matter relating to the Corporate Insolvency resolution and liquidation dealt with by the Board under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code 2016.
