 President Ram Nath Kovind has declared Tripura's queen variety pineapple as state fruit and its export was a major step in connecting the state with world trade. The state holds good potential in world trade. Export of the pineapple to foreign countries is a major step in connecting with world trade. Tripura exported its first consignment of one tonne pineapples to Dubai earlier this month.

 In a swift operation, the Indian Navy has rescued 38 Indians from Socotra island in Yemen where they were stranded for nearly 10 days after a severe cyclonic storm hit the area. The Navy had diverted its ship INS Sunayna from the Gulf of Aden to Socotra as part of the operation ‘NISTAR’ to rescue the Indians.

 Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Rajyavardhan Rathore has approved the upward revision of pension to meritorious sportspersons. Under the revision, the rate of pension has been doubled of the existing rate of pension on winning medals in international sports events. Following the upward revision of pension, the medallist at the Olympic/Para-Olympic Games will get Rs.20,000while a gold medallist at World Cup/World Championship in Olympic and Asian Games disciplines will get Rs.16,000.

 Reserve Bank has stated that interest subsidy scheme on short-term crop loans of up to three lakh rupeeswill be implemented through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode from the current financial year. The Centre has earmarked 15,000 crore rupees for 2018-19 towards interest subvention for short-term crop loans. The notification adds that the scheme will be required to be settled as applicable in Plan Scheme namely Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and North East Region among others.

 RBI has made changes in the Gold Monetisation Scheme (GMS) to make it more attractive. The revamping of the scheme is aimed at enabling people to open a hassle-free gold deposit account. The short-term deposits should be treated as bank's on-balance sheet liability. These deposits will be made with the designated banks for a short period of 1-3 years (with a facility of rollover). Deposits can also be allowed for broken periods (e.g. 1 year 3 months; 2 years 4 months 5 days; etc.).

 Indian cricketer Mithali Raj has become the first batter from the country to score 2000 runs in T20I cricket. She achieved the feat during India's Women's T20 Asia Cup match against Sri Lanka in Kuala Lumpur. Mithali has now scored 2015 runs in 74 T20Is with the help of 14 half-centuries. She has a decent average of 38.01 with the highest score of 76 not out. Mithali is the seventh woman batter to score 2,000 runs in T20Is, a list which is topped by Charlotte Edwards (2,605), followed by Stafanie Taylor (2,582) and Suzie Bates (2,515). When it comes to men's T20I, the list is led by Martin Guptill (2271) followed by Brendon McCullum (2140) and Virat Kohli (1983).

 In a major step to give a big push towards the ease of doing business in Punjab, the state government has launched a "Business First Portal". It was unveiled by Industry Minister Sunder Sham Arora in Jalandhar. The online portal will facilitate the industrialists for Regulatory Clearances and Fiscal Approvals, real-time tracking of applications at the common platform.

 The Himachal Pradesh government has decided to do away with semester system in undergraduate (UG)courses and revert to annual examination system. HP Govt had set up a review committee headed by former vice-chancellor to review RUSA (Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan) and it has recommended reverting back to annual examination system. The RUSA was introduced in the state in 2013.

 Minister of State for Defence, Dr, Subhash Bhamre has dedicated a highway tunnel at Theng near Chungthang in north Sikkim to the nation. The tunnel will benefit the tourism and rapidly propel the growth of the state. The double-lane tunnel stretching about 600 meters has been constructed by the Border Roads Organisation at cost of over 42 crore rupees.
