 National E-Repository Limited (NERL), a group company of National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX ), has brought in ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank on board as the repository participants for pledge finance. NERL has signed the agreement with both the banks where they will offer pledge finance against eNWRs created on NERL’s repository platform commodities stored in warehouses registered with Warehousing Development and Regulatory Authority (WDRA). ICICI Bank (also a key shareholder with NERL) and HDFC Bank have now been empanelled as repository participants – pledgee with NERL.

 Nation remembers Dr Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar on his 127th birth anniversary. Floral tributes were paid at Babasaheb’s Statue in the Parliament House Complex, New Delhi. Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Constitution of India, was born on 14th April 1891 at Mhow in Madhya Pradesh, which is now known as Dr Ambedkar Nagar. He was also the first law minister of India.

 Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Dr Ambedkar National Memorial in New Delhi. The memorial is dedicated to the life and contributions of Dr. Ambedkar, the principal architect of the Constitution. The foundation stone for the Memorial was laid by the Prime Minister in 2016. The memorial has an exhibition area, meditation hall with the Buddha Statue and 12 feet high bronze statue of Dr Ambedkar. It is equipped with a sewerage treatment plant, a rainwater harvesting System and rooftop solar energy.

  • 1. MoU between India and the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland on the return of Illegal Migrants.
  • 2. Revision of pay and allowances of Lieutenant Governors of Union Territories.
  • 3. Headquarters (Host country) Agreement between India and the International Solar Alliance.
  • 4. Exploration and Exploitation of Coal Bed Methane (CBM) from areas under Coal Mining Lease allotted to Coal India Limited (CIL) and its Subsidiaries.

 Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off India's first all-electric high-speed locomotive in Bihar. The first big Make-in-India project completed by France's Alstom, the train has the country's most powerful engine with 12,000 horsepower and a maximum speed of 120 km per hour. The average cost of one high-speed locomotive is around Rs25 crore.

 President of Nepal Bidya Devi Bhandari inaugurated an International Conference on Human Rights in South Asia in Kathmandu. The conference is organized by the National Human Rights Commission of Nepal. The representatives of Human Rights Commissions and institutions, human rights activists from 20 countries including India are participating in the 3-day event. The theme of the conference is "Identifying Challenges, Assessing Progress, Moving Forward: Addressing Impunity and Realizing Human Rights in South Asia".

 Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu inaugurated first flight from Delhi to Pathankot (Punjab), at a ceremony held at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi. The Pathankot airport has been opened by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to improve regional connectivity as per the UDAN Scheme. Pathankot in Punjab state is the 21st airport in the country, which got operational for passengers.

 Nepal Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli has begun his three-day visit to India. According to the External Affairs Ministry, the visit will provide and opportunity to review wide-ranging cooperative partnership and to progress it further. PM Oli will also visit G B Pant University of Agriculture and Technology in Pantnagar, Uttarakhand. He will also engage with the business community as well as the Nepalese diaspora in India.

 Union Commerce and Industry and Civil Aviation Minister, Suresh Prabhu launched digital initiatives by Export Inspection Council (EIC) for ease of export at New Delhi. EIC is the official export certification body of Government of India and has launched this flagship project of Digital India Initiative to keep pace with changing dynamics of the world. In order to continue the vision for credible inspection and certification, three portals have been developed to reduce transaction time and cost in a transparent manner. The portals will play an important role in the Go Green initiative by reducing paper usage and saving millions of trees.

 With the beginning of the financial year 2018-19, the e-way Bill System for Inter-State movement of goods comes into force. Under this system businesses and transporters have to produce before a GST inspector e-way bill for moving goods worth over Rs 50,000 from one state to another.
