 India remembers its brave hearts on 26 July which is celebrated as Kargil Vijay Diwas.On this day, the country remembers the extreme valour, sacrifice and exemplary courage of Indian soldiers during 1999 Kargil war. This year nation is celebrating the 20 years of victory in Kargil war.

  A new India-UK bilateral pilot scheme, the UKEIRI Mobility Programme: Study in Indiawas launched by Universities UK International (UUKi) and British Council India. It aimsto generate up to 200 opportunities for undergraduate students at UK universitiesto visit India by March 2021. The programme will be funded by the UK and Indian governments as part of Phase 3 of the UK-India Education Research Initiative (UKEIRI).

 The government has set a target for the installation of Rooftop Solar projects of 40,000 MegaWatt by 2022 in the country. The projects include installation of solar panels on the rooftop of houses. It is estimated that 1.5 million units per MegaWatt per year are generated from solar rooftop plants.

  Culture Minister has inaugurated the architectural illumination of the historic Safdarjung Tomb in New Delhi. A total of 213 technologically advanced LED lights have been used to highlight the 17th century monument. The consumption of LED lights is approximately 62 percent less than conventional light fixtures. Archaeological Survey of India has taken up the project to illuminate the important monuments of Delhi to highlight the archaeological magnificence of historical monuments.

  The Lok Sabha has passed the Finance Bill, 2019 that will give effect to the proposals of the Central Government for the year 2019-20. The Finance Bill contains tax proposals for the current fiscal. The proposed amendments will promote ‘Make in India’ and Startups.

 Union Minister of Human Resource Development released UGC Guide to Student Induction Programme “Deeksharambh” in New Delhi. The guide to Student Induction Programme is to help new students adjust and feel comfortable in the new environment, inculcate in them the ethos and culture of the institution, help them build bonds with other students and faculty members, and expose them to a sense of larger purpose and self-exploration.

  INS Sagardhwani embarked on a two-month-long Sagar Maitri Mission-2 from Southern Naval Command in Kochi. INS Sagardhwani is an oceanographic research vessel of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). Sagar Maitri is a unique initiative of the DRDO to promote closer cooperation in socio-economic aspects as well as greater scientific interaction, especially in ocean research among Indian Ocean Rim (IOR) countries.

  The Union Cabinet has approved National Medical Commission Bill, 2019. The bill provides for setting up of a National Medical Commission in place of Medical Council of India and repeal the Indian Medical Council Act 1956. The features of the bill include, the Common final year MBBS Exams will be know as National Exit Test(NEXT) which would serve as Licentiate Exam, for entrance to Post Graduate medical course and as screening test of foreign medical graduates.

GoI plan to increase the total production of coal in the country to 1 billion tone by 2022-23. Coal minister said that the gap between demand and supply of coal cannot be bridged completely as there is insufficient domestic availability of coking coal.

  The Rajya Sabha passed the Central Universities (Amendment) Bill, 2019. The Bill aims the establishment of a Central University and Tribal University in Andhra Pradesh. The total outlay for the Central University project is Rs 902.07 crore and for Tribal University is Rs 836 crore. The Tribal University will offer research facilities in the fields of art, culture and technology to the tribal population.
