 Odisha is hosting the Hockey World Cup 2018. The opening ceremony of Men’s Hockey World Cup took place at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar. The opening ceremony, which was almost a three-hour long, conveyed a powerful message of “oneness of humanity”. India is hosting the FIH Hockey World Cup for the third time, earlier Mumbai in 1982 and New Delhi in 2010 have hosted the event. World’s top 16 teams will fight for the coveted title in the 14th edition of the tournament.

  The Reserve Bank has launched a survey to gauge their scope with respect to turnover, profitability, and workforce with an aim to create a profile of India’s startup sector.  The survey would also throw light on the problems faced by the startup sector. According to the RBI, the survey forms have been mailed to all startup entities registered with the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion.

  Markets regulator SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India) has fined brokerage house Anand Rathi Rs 1 lakh for violating stock broker norms by transferring funds from the client’s account to own account and vice versa on several occasions. In an order, the regulator stated that Anand Rathi Shares and Stock Brokers has mixed-up client’s funds with its own funds and vice versa and thereby acted in contravention of SEBI(Stock Brokers and Sub-Brokers) Regulations. The regulator had outlined strict segregation of client’s funds, member account’s funds and transfer of funds is permitted as an exception under specific instances.

  Country’s largest bank State Bank of India has increased fixed deposit or FD rates for some select maturity periods. According to the revised rates, SBI is offering 6.8%interest rate on FDs with maturity period of one to two years, as compared to 6.7%earlier. The interest rate for senior citizens also goes up to 7.30% on SBI FDs with tenure between one year and two years, from 7.2% earlier. Similarly, SBI has hiked interest rate on FDs with maturity period between two years and three years. SBI is now offering 6.80% as compared to 6.75% earlier. The interest rate for senior citizens also goes up to 7.30% on SBI FDs with tenure between two years and three years, from 7.25% earlier. SBI has kept interest rate unchanged for FDs with other maturity tenures.

Rohit Kapoor stated that he is thrilled to join OYO’s mission of upgrading different forms of real estate and creating unique accommodations experiences. He holds an MBA from Indian School of Business and is a certified Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA Institute, USA). Kapoor will be reporting to OYO Hotels & Homes Founder & Group CEO Ritesh Agarwal.

G-20 Summit 2018 held at Buenos Aires, Argentina. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the summit. According to the Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale, there will be three sessions during the summit and Mr. Modi will attend several bilateral meetings on the sideline of the summit. He will also attend a trilateral meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. The Prime Minister will be speaking on several welfare schemes including Ayushman Bharat, soil health card, MUDRA Yojna among other issues in Putting People First session.

 ‘9th Indian Organ Donation Day’ was organized by the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (NOTTO) in Delhi. Shri Ashwini Kumar Choubey, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare stated that People’s participation and people’s awareness is the key to encouraging organ donation. The best performing State of Tamil Nadu was also felicitated. The State of Maharashtra received an award for being the best State for promoting awareness of organ donations. Dr. Subramania Iyer K, Kochi was felicitated for conducting first hand transplant in the country and Dr. Shailesh Puntambekar, Pune, received the award for conducting 1st Uterine Transplant in India.

 The Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju has inaugurated the 14th Formation Day of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on 27th November 2018 in New Delhi. The theme of this year’s Formation Day is ‘Early Warning for Disasters’. On the occasion, NDMA also released a training manual for masons on Hazard-Resistant Construction. A study report on “Gujarat floods 2017: A Case Study” will also be released.

 Italian filmmaker Bernardo Bertolucci, who won Oscars with “The Last Emperor” and whose erotic drama “Last Tango in Paris” enthralled and shocked the world, has passed away. He was 77.

 NASA’s InSight spacecraft landed on Mars after nearly a 7 months, 458-million-kilometre journey, and a 6.5-minute parachuted descent through the Red Planet’s atmosphere. The 360-kg lander also shared its first photo from Mars, showing an area called Elysium Planitia, where it will dig five meters below the surface. The $993-million mission will measure the Mars’ internal heat and study quakes.
