All living things have the potential to produce offspring of its own kind. By reproduction process, organisms maintain their balance in the nature. Different animals reproduce in different ways. Hence, the reproduction is one of the most important characteristic features of living things.

Insects lay eggs which pass through different stages in their life cycle. Grasshopper and cockroach have three stages in their life cycle.

Egg ----> Nymph ----> Adult

Housefly and butterfly pass through four stages.

 Egg ---->  Caterpillar ----> Pupa ----> Adult

Plants reproduce with the help of seeds. Seeds grow into new plant on getting proper condition of light, water, warmth and air.
