RAJASTHAN PMT Rajasthan - PMT Solved Paper-2005

  • question_answer
A body cools from \[60{}^\circ C\] to \[50{}^\circ C\] in 10: minutes. If the room temperature is \[25{}^\circ C\] and assuming newtons law of cooling to hold good, the temperature of the body at the end of the next 10 minutes will be:

    A)  \[25{}^\circ C\]

    B) \[42.85{}^\circ C\]

    C) \[40{}^\circ C\]

    D)        \[38.5{}^\circ C\]

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Using the relation Rate of loss of heat\[\propto -{{}_{D}}\]where\[\]is the average temperature in the given time interval. So, \[\frac{{{M}_{c}}(60{}^\circ -50{}^\circ }{10}\propto \left( \frac{60{}^\circ +50{}^\circ }{2}-25{}^\circ  \right)\] On solving we get \[\text{=42}\text{.85}{}^\circ \text{C}\]
