    When presence of one allele can mask the expression of allele of a different gene, this type of gene interaction is called, epistasis. The gene or locus, which suppressed or mashed the action of gene is called, epistatic gene, and the gene or locus which is suppressed is called,  hypostatic gene According to Mendels law of independent assortment one pair of genes (two pair of alleles) assort independentaly. Such genes, which are non-allelic and affect the phenotype of a single quantilative trait are called, polygenes or cumulative genes and their inheritance as polygenic inheritance.
