Sex education is necessary in schools and other institutions for awareness of teenagers towards sex. It is helpful because

(a) Knowledge about sex-related issues and problems like adolescence changes, menstrual cycle problems, unwanted pregnancy, unsafe abortion, reproductive tract infections, STDs and cancers reduce the risk of unwanted consequences among teenagers.

(b) An awareness about body changes during their age helps in development of healthy habits including personal cleanliness and hygiene.

(c) Students become more aware and overcome hesitation and gain confidence to discuss any query with their teachers or parents.

(d) Counselling and awareness regarding reproductive organs, safe and hygienic sexual practices will play an important role in making people reproductively healthy.
