ASSERTION: The tangent galvanometer can be made more sensitive by increasing the number of turns of its coil.
REASON: Current through galvanometer is inversely proportional to the number of turns of coil.

    A) If both assertion and reason are true and reason is the correct explanation of assertion.

    B) If both assertion and reason are true and reason is not the correct explanation of assertion.

    C) If assertion is true but reason is false.

    D) If both assertion and reason are false.

    E) If assertion is false but reason is true.

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

In tangent galvanometer the current through the coil is given by\[I=\frac{2a}{N{{\mu }_{0}}}\]. \[{{B}_{H}}\tan \theta \] Where a= radius of coil, N= number of turns, \[\theta \]= deflection of the needle, as \[\tan \theta \,\alpha \frac{N}{a}\]. So for the same current passing through the coil, by reducing its radius or by increasing number of turns of coil, we can increase the sensitivity of tangent galvanometer.
