Some Applications of Trigonometry

• Line of sight: The imaginary line drawn from the eye of the observer to the object, when the observer is looking at it is called the line of sight, Note: Line of sight is called the line of vision.

• Angle of elevation: The angle formed by the line of sight with the horizontal when the object is above the horizontal level is called the angle of elevation, Note: When the observer looks at an object raising his, head an angle of elevation is formed.

• Angle of depression: The angle formed by the line of sight with the horizontal when the object is below the horizontal level is called the angle of depression. Note: When the observer looks at an object lowering his head, an angle of depression is formed.

• The height or length of an object or the distance between two distant objects can be determined with the help of trigonometric ratios.
