If spermatogenesis proceeds too rap inhibin is released. Inhibin reduces the sec setion of

    A)  Luteinising Hormone (LH)

    B)  Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH)

    C)  Testosterone

    D)  Interstitial Cell Stimulating Hormone (ICSH)

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Spermatogenesis is initiated due to an increase in the secretion of Gonadotropin Releasing Hormone (GnRH) by the hypothalamus at the age of puberty. Thus, the increase in the levels of GnRH acts on the anterior pituitary and stimulate the secretions of two gonadotropin, i.e., Luteinising Hormone (LH) and Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH). LH acts on the Leydig cells and stimulate them to secrete testosterone. FSH acts on Sertoli cells and stimulates the secretions of some factors which help in spermiogenesis. When Spermatogenesis proceeds too rapidly in males, another hormone called inhibin is secreted from the Sertoli cells. Which has a negative feedback property which inhibits the secretion of FSH from anterior pituitary.
