                    In \[{{C}_{4}}\] plants, initial \[C{{O}_{2}}\] Fixation occurs in mesophyll cells. The primary acceptor of \[C{{O}_{2}}\] is phosphoenol pyruvate (PEP). It combines with carbon dioxide in presence of PEP carboxylase to form oxaloacetic acid.
