  • question_answer
A particle is moving along X-axis, whose acceleration is given by a = 3x -1, where x is the location of the particle. At t = 0, if the particle is at rest \[x=\frac{2}{3}\]the distance covered by the particle in 4s is

    A) zero

    B) 40 m

    C)  37 m

    D)  infinite

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

Given, at \[x=\frac{2}{3},\]t = 0 and v = 0 So, the acceleration at t = 0 is \[a=3x-1=3\times \frac{2}{3}-1\]\[=1\text{m}/{{\text{s}}^{2}}\] As velocity and acceleration both are zero at t = 0, so it will always remain at rest, which implies the distance covered by the particle in 4s is zero.
