    B)        endodermis

    C) both (a) and (b)

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

The outer tangential wall of epidermal cells are covered by a fatty substance cutin which forms the cuticle. The cuticles is very well developed in xerophytes but absent in hydrophytes. It is secreted by the epidermal cells. Endodermis is the uniseriate layer of cells delimiting the cortex from stele. Two types of cells primary or thin walled and secondary or thick, walled are found in endodermis. Casparian strips are found in endodermis. Sometimes a few layers of fibres of collenchyma develop just beneath the epidermis forming an outer protective layer called hypodermis.
