    The wail of the membranous labyrinth or internal ear is lined by cuboidal epithelial cells. At places where the nerve fibres enters, there are well marked in wardly projections known as acoustic ridges or spots which are sensory. The spots found in ampullae are known as cristae while those of vestibule are the maculae. The sensory cells of acoustic spot have supporting cells at the base while their free ends bear sensory hairs.
