Morpho butterfly is an insect with two pairs of membranous wings body covered with scales of many colours, like blue and green. At rest the wings are held vertically. These colours are not due to pigmentation but are seen due to iridescence. The maximum fine lamellated scales covering Morphos wing reflect incident light repeatedly at successive layers causing interference effect that depends on both the wave-lengths and angle of incidence. Hence, the colours produced vary with viewing angle.
