  • question_answer
For a reaction, \[\text{A +}\,\text{B}\xrightarrow{{}}\text{P}\]the rate of reaction becomes four times, when concentration of A is increased twice and rate of reaction reduce to half when concentration of B is increased twice keeping A constant. The order of reaction is:

    A)  zero

    B)                         one

    C)  two

    D)         three

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

From the question, it is clear that, \[\text{rate}\propto {{[A]}^{2}}\] and                        \[\propto {{[B]}^{-1}}\] \[\therefore \]                  \[rate=k{{[A]}^{2}}{{[B]}^{-1}}\] Hence, order of reaction \[=2-1=1\]
