The compound in brown ring test is:

    A)  \[[Fe{{({{H}_{2}}O)}_{5}}NO]S{{O}_{4}}\]

    B)  \[[Fe{{({{H}_{2}}O)}_{4}}NO]S{{O}_{4}}\]

    C)  \[[Fe({{H}_{2}}O)N{{O}_{2}}]S{{O}_{4}}\]

    D)  none Of these

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

All the compounds containing nitrate \[(N{{\overset{-}{\mathop{O}}\,}_{3}})\] ion give ring test. In this test we add freshly prepared \[\text{FeS}{{\text{O}}_{\text{4}}}\]solution to the aqueous solution of compound and then add conc. \[{{\text{H}}_{\text{2}}}\text{S}{{\text{O}}_{\text{4}}}\]carefully by the side of the test tube. A dark brown ring of \[[Fe{{({{H}_{2}}O)}_{5}}NO]S{{O}_{4}}\] at the interface between two liquids is formed.
