What will be ratio of speed in first two seconds to the speed in next 4 seconds:

    A) \[\sqrt{2}\]: 1

    B)                         3: 1

    C)         2 :1

    D)         1: 2

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

Speed is defined as the ratio of distance covered and time taken to cover the distance. \[\upsilon =\frac{\text{distance}\,\text{(s)}}{\text{timetaken (t)}}\] As shown in given figure \[\frac{{{\upsilon }_{1}}}{{{\upsilon }_{2}}}=\frac{{{s}_{0}}/{{t}_{1}}}{{{s}_{0}}/{{t}_{2}}}=\frac{{{s}_{0}}}{{{t}_{1}}}\times \frac{{{t}_{2}}}{{{s}_{0}}}\] \[\frac{{{\upsilon }_{1}}}{{{\upsilon }_{2}}}=\frac{4}{2}=\frac{2}{1}\] Therefore, the ratio of speeds is \[{{\upsilon }_{1}}:{{\upsilon }_{2}}=2:1\]
