If temperature is changed from \[27{}^\circ C\] to \[327{}^\circ C\]. Find ratio of K.E. of molecules at two temperatures:

    A)  3 : 2

    B)  2 : 3

    C)         1 : 2

    D)         2 : 1

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

    From the formula, \[{{E}_{K}}=\frac{3}{2}KT\]                 So,          \[{{E}_{K}}\propto T\]                 Hence, \[\frac{{{E}_{{{K}_{1}}}}}{{{E}_{{{K}_{2}}}}}=\frac{{{T}_{1}}}{{{T}_{2}}}=\frac{(27+273)K}{(327+273)K}=\frac{300}{600}=\frac{1}{2}\] Therefore, \[{{E}_{{{K}_{1}}}}:{{E}_{{{K}_{2}}}}=1:2\]
