A bag has Rs. 30.8 in the form of 1 rupee, 50 paise and 10 paise coins in the ratio of 6 : 3. What is the number of 50 paise coins?

    A)  8

    B)  24

    C)  12

    D)  4

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

    Respective ratio of the number of coins \[=6:3:2\] Respective ratio of their values, \[=6:\frac{3}{2}:\frac{2}{10}\] \[=60:15:2\] Sum of the terms of ratio = 60 + 15 + 2 = 77 \[\therefore \]Value of 50-paise coins = Rs. \[=\left( \frac{15}{77}\times 30.8 \right)=Rs.\,6\] \[\therefore \]Their number \[=6\times 2=12\]
