(iii) Gandhiji considered the Champaran episode as the turning point of his life because after this episode/ the peasants realized their rights and came out of the fear of British landlords. They also got 25% of their land tax as compensation money. This was also the beginning of the cultural, economic and social transformation of the peasants in India. The British were forced to leave the lands of the peasants and hence/ the peasants became the owner of their own lands.
