    Solution :

     Let the length of train be\[x\]metres \[\because \]\[\frac{x}{8}=\frac{x+264}{20}\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[20x=8x+2112\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[12x=2112\] \[\therefore \]\[x=\frac{2112}{12}=176\,\,metres\]
