RAJASTHAN PMT Rajasthan - PMT Solved Paper-2009

  • question_answer
The highest boiling point is of

    A) \[FeC{{l}_{2}}\]

    B) \[FeC{{l}_{3}}\]

    C) \[A{{l}_{2}}{{(S{{O}_{4}})}_{3}}\]

    D)        \[AlC{{l}_{3}}\]

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

Elevation of boiling point is colligative property hence, it is directly proportional to number of moles of particles in solution. One mole of\[FeC{{l}_{2}}\] give three moles ions, one mole of \[FeC{{l}_{3}}\] give four mole ions, one mole of \[A{{l}_{2}}{{(S{{O}_{4}})}_{3}}\] give five mole ions and one mole of \[AlC{{l}_{3}}\] give four mole ions. Hence \[A{{l}_{2}}{{(S{{O}_{4}})}_{3}}\] has highest boiling point.
