When a light ray incidents from air to glass and reflected, angle of incidence is\[{{57}^{o}}\]. What will be the incident angle for reflection again when it incidents from water to glass?

    A) \[\theta <{{57}^{o}}\]

    B) \[\theta >{{57}^{o}}\]

    C) \[\theta ={{57}^{o}}\]

    D)  Cant be determined

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

    For air to glass                 \[\frac{{{\mu }_{g}}}{{{\mu }_{a}}}=\frac{1}{\sin C}\]                 \[\frac{{{\mu }_{g}}}{{{\mu }_{a}}}=\frac{1}{\sin {{57}^{o}}}\]                                     ? (1) For water to glass                 \[\frac{{{\mu }_{g}}}{{{\mu }_{w}}}=\frac{1}{\sin \theta }\]                                          ? (2) Dividing eq (2) by eq (1)                 \[\frac{{{\mu }_{a}}}{{{\mu }_{w}}}=\frac{\sin {{57}^{o}}}{\sin \theta }\]                 \[\sin \theta =\frac{{{\mu }_{w}}\sin {{57}^{o}}}{{{\mu }_{a}}}\] \[\because \]     \[{{\mu }_{a}}=1\]and\[{{\mu }_{w}}=1.33\] \[\therefore \]  \[\theta >{{57}^{o}}\]
