  • question_answer
An organ pipe, opened at both ends, has fundamental frequency of 30 Hz. If one of its ends is closed/ then fundamental frequency will be :

    A) 15 Hz

    B) 30 Hz

    C) 45 Hz

    D) 60 Hz

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

Fundamental frequency in an organ pipe opened at both ends. \[{{n}_{1}}=\frac{\upsilon }{2l}\]and fundamental frequency in an organ pipe closed at one end                 \[{{n}_{2}}=\frac{\upsilon }{4l}\] \[\therefore \]  \[\frac{{{n}_{2}}}{{{n}_{1}}}=\frac{\upsilon /41}{4/2l}=\frac{1}{2}\]                                 \[{{n}_{2}}=\frac{{{n}_{1}}}{2}\]                 \[{{n}_{2}}=\frac{30}{2}\]                 \[{{n}_{2}}=15Hz\]
