JIPMER Jipmer Medical Solved Paper-2001

  • question_answer
A balloon contains \[500\text{ }{{m}^{3}}\]of helium at \[27{}^\circ C\] and 1 atmosphere pressure. The volume of the helium at \[-3{}^\circ C\] temperature and 0.5 atmosphere pressure will be:

    A)  \[1000\text{ }{{m}^{3}}\]

    B)         \[900\text{ }{{m}^{3}}\]

    C)  \[700\text{ }{{m}^{3}}\]

    D)         \[500\text{ }{{m}^{3}}\]

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

    Using gas equation law \[\frac{{{P}_{1}}{{V}_{1}}}{{{T}_{1}}}=\frac{{{P}_{2}}{{V}_{2}}}{{{T}_{2}}}\] or            \[\frac{1\times 500}{300}=\frac{0.5\times {{V}_{2}}}{270}\] \[{{V}_{2}}=900\,{{m}^{3}}\]
