  • question_answer
The amount of copper obtained at cathode, on passing 965 coulomb electricity will be:

    A)  31.75 g

    B)         63.5 g

    C)         0.3175 g

    D)         3.175 g

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

According to Faradays first law of electrolysis, 1g equivalent of a metal is obtained by passing 96500 coulomb of electricity. Hence, quantity of copper obtained, by passing 965 coulombs \[=\frac{1}{96500/965}=\frac{1}{100}g.\,\,\text{equivalent}\] \[=\frac{1}{100}\times 31.75=0.3175\,g\]
