  • question_answer
The volume occupied by 1 mole of a gas at 0.5 atm and 335 K is:

    A)  50.1

    B)  60.1

    C)  55.1

    D)         45.1

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

    We know that, 1 mole of a gas occupy 22.4 litre volume at S.T.P. Hence, \[{{P}_{1}}=1\,atm,\]\[{{P}_{2}}=0.5\,atm,\]\[{{V}_{1}}=22.4\,litre\] \[{{V}_{2}}=?,\]\[{{T}_{1}}=273\,K,\]\[{{T}_{2}}=335\,K\] From gas equation, \[\frac{{{P}_{1}}\,{{V}_{1}}}{{{T}_{1}}}=\frac{{{P}_{2}}{{V}_{2}}}{{{T}_{2}}}\] or            \[\frac{1\times 22.4}{273}=\frac{0.5\times {{V}_{2}}}{335}\] or            \[{{V}_{2}}=\frac{22.4\times 335}{0.5\times 273}\]      \[=55.0\approx 55.1\,\,\text{litre}\]
