JIPMER Jipmer Medical Solved Paper-1997

  • question_answer
The temperature at which speed of sound in air becomes double of its value at \[0{}^\circ C\] is:

    A)  \[1092\text{ }K\]

    B)  \[1092{}^\circ C\]

    C)         \[819\text{ }K\]

    D)         \[819{}^\circ C\]

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

    Using the relation \[\frac{{{\upsilon }_{1}}}{{{\upsilon }_{0}}}\,=\sqrt{\frac{T}{{{T}_{0}}}}\] [Here: \[{{\upsilon }_{t}}=2\upsilon ,\,\,{{\upsilon }_{0}}=\upsilon ,\,{{T}_{0}}\,=273\,K\]] \[\therefore \]  \[\left( \frac{\upsilon }{2\upsilon } \right)\,=\frac{\sqrt{T}}{273}\] or            \[T=273\times 4=1092\,K\]
