  • question_answer
A segment of wire vibrates with fundamental frequency of 450 Hz under a tension of 9 kg-wt. Then tension at which the fundamental frequency of the same wire becomes 900 Hz is

    A)  36 kg-wt

    B)  27 kg-wt

    C)  18 kg-wt

    D)  72 kg-wt

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

                     Fundamental frequency, \[n=\frac{1}{2l}\sqrt{\frac{T}{m}}\] ie,           \[n\propto \sqrt{T}\] \[\therefore \]  \[\frac{{{n}_{1}}}{{{n}_{2}}}=\sqrt{\frac{{{T}_{1}}}{{{T}_{2}}}}\] \[\Rightarrow \]               \[\frac{450}{900}=\sqrt{\frac{9}{{{T}_{2}}}}\]                 \[{{T}_{2}}=36\,kg-wt\]
