                    Keratomalacia occurs due to deficiency of vitamin-A. In this, corneal epithelium becomes keratinized, opaque and may become softened and ulcerated. The daily requirement of vitamin-A is about 2 mg. The sources of vitamin-A are fish liver oils, animal liver, egg yolk, milk and milk products, vegetables such as carrot, spinach, tomatoes. Vitamin-A exists as a provitamin in the form of \[\beta \]-carotenes which are yellow pigments.
