From a balloon rising vertically upwards as 5 m/s a stone is thrown up at 10 m/s relative to the balloon. Its velocity with respect to ground after 2 s is (assume\[g=10\text{ }m/{{s}^{2}}\]) :

    A)  zero

    B)  5 m/s

    C)  10 m/s

    D)  20 m/s

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

From equation of motion, we have\[v=u+gt\]where v is final velocity, u the initial velocity, g the acceleration due to gravity and t the time. Taking downward direction negative \[u=10+5=15\text{ }m/s,\text{ }g=10\text{ }m/{{s}^{2}},\text{ }r=2s\] \[\therefore \] \[v=15-2\times 10=-5m/s\]
