When\[HCl\]gas is passed through a saturated solution of\[NaCl\](brine), then the solubility of \[NaCl\]:

    A)  increases

    B)  decreases

    C)  remains same

    D)  none of these

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

\[NaCl\underset{S}{\mathop{N{{a}^{+}}}}\,+\underset{S}{\mathop{C{{l}^{-}}}}\,\] \[HCl\underset{{{S}_{1}}}{\mathop{{{H}^{+}}}}\,+\underset{{{S}_{1}}}{\mathop{C{{l}^{-}}}}\,\] The solubility of\[C{{l}^{-}}\]becomes\[S+{{S}_{1}}\]. The concentration of\[C{{l}^{-}}\]ion increases, hence the ionic product of\[NaCl\]also increases.
