    A)  eel

    B)  salmon

    C)  slime eel

    D)  lamprey

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

Lamprey (Petromyzon) live in the sea and is parasite on the fishes. By fore and aft piston-like movements the tongue with its sharp horny teeth rasps off small bits of flesh from the body of victim. Lamprey than injects an anticoagulent into the wound and sucks blood and body fluids of the pray (sanguivorous). Lamprey is dioecious. In spring or early summer it migrates into the neighbouring freshwater steam or river for breeding (i.e., anadromous). Eel (Anguilla bengalensis) live in fresh water and estuaries. It migrates to ocean for spawning (Catadromous). Salmon (saimo) is freshwater and marine fish. It contains a small adipose fin on back. It is anadromous.
