Goebel (1907) and Palta (1973) induced the formation of prothalli from the petiole and laminar surface of the pinnae in Pteris vittata. - Endosperm in gymnosperms develop before fertilization therefore it is haploid. - The venter accompanied the growth of embryo by forming a protective covering around the embryo in Funaria. This enlarged venter is called calyptra. - The plant-body of Cycas is sporophytic. Each ovule is enclosed in a thick coat the integument. The tissue within the integument is called the nucellus. It constitutes the body of the ovule.
