The anaphase promoting complex is activated by :

    A)  M cdk cyclin

    B)  G1 cdk cyclin

    C)  S cdk cyclin

    D)  Transcription factor

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

Anaphase promoting complex is a protein aggregate needed for entery into anaphase. When an unattached kinetochore is detected the bub, mad and mps 1 proteins act to block the onset of anaphase apparently by inhibiting the protein cdc 20. As cdc 20 is activated normally and in turn the anaphase promoling complex is activated. - Cyclin D is normally expressed only in G1 but the presence of a mitogen keeps the level elevated throughout and the cell cycle. - Cyclin E and its associated \[CDK\text{ }\left( cd{{k}_{2}} \right)\]initiate DNA synthesis   (S phase)  by phosphorylation of RB, protein and release of \[{{E}_{2}}F.\] - The transcription factor (E2F) stimulates transcription of genes whose product are used in DNA synthesis as well as genes for cyclin E, cyclin A and\[~Cd{{k}_{2}}.\]
